The Department of Translation Studies at the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates is organizing a three-day international
Conference on Translation and Interpretation and the Impact of Globalization, to be held at a Hotel (Al Ain) from November 18-20, 2008.

Conference Objectives: The main goal of the conference is to bring together scholars from all around the world to exchange ideas, share experiences and address current translation theories, issues, and techniques in all areas of translation. Special emphasis will be placed on translation in the Middle East, particularly the UAE, and the challenges facing translators.
Conference Topics include Aspects of Translation, Translation Theory and Practice, Choices or Options in Literary Translation, Aspects of Legal and Scientific Translation, Translators / Interpreters and Global Conflicts, Court and Conference Interpreting, Translation in the Local and Global Community, Translation and Technology, Translation in the UAE, Translating into Major Languages, and others.
