That's encouraging news for prospective applicants like myself. I'm sure the graduates who are now freelance translators are doing equally well for themselves.

This is a bit odd...she already has an MA in Translation from the Ewha Womans University, but she's doing another MA in Translation Studies? I guess it's in another language pair.

HI Ali, We would also certainly welcome an application from a student from Mauritania. Candidates must have a BA, 2.75 GPA, GRE, two letters of recommendation, speak a minimum of two languages, send in a writing sample, and other items. For more information, please see our website http://www.umasstranslation.com/academics/ma-in-translation-studies/ above. Most candidates take two years to complete the MA. Best, Edwin

Thank you for the concern about the Iraqi And Afghan translators ,..
For Me As A translator being working for the American Armed Forces since 2006 till now ,..I Find it so Hard to apply ,..
The process is so slow ,..The Applications are so hard to fill in and the most important part is the soldiers and the officers in the chain of command are not co operated with the applicant ,.Because they want to show their patriotism to the other people ,..!!
I Worked with many brigades and battalions and companies ,..for all the three years ,.and every time when i want to apply and try to get the approval from my in charge or my chain of command officer I get so much rejection from all the soldiers and the officers around ,...!!
looks like nobody think that i putting my life and my families life on the line to save them from death ,..
I Saved a lot of soldiers ,.And What I Get By Return ??
Rejection ,..Why ?? Because I'm An Iraqi !!! ...
This is What I Face everyday ,..
This is What All The Translators face everyday ,...
Please ,..reach my voice to the people to know what world we live in ,..!!
thank you so much ,..
Sincerely,..

We would welcome an Algerian student in our program; we have faculty support in Arabic, French, Spanish, and Italian, and we have published a special issue of Metamorphoses on the Arab World. We have had several Iraqi students in our program in the past, but so far none from Algeria. Best, Edwin
